Beach Advisory Lifted

An advisory warning the public to avoid contact with the water at several West Grand Traverse Bay beaches has been lifted.

Grand Traverse County Health Department officials lifted the advisory Monday after testing for E.coli at beaches including Clinch Park, Sunset Park, Bryant Park and the Traverse City Senior Center. All tests showed normal levels in the lake, and that the waters were safe again for full body contact.

The beach advisory had been in place since Saturday as a precautionary measure after 3,000 gallons of untreated sewage leaked into Kids Creek near Cedar and Sixth streets in downtown Traverse City.
