Michigan-Themed Party Comes To Little Fleet Saturday

By Beth Milligan | Feb. 16, 2018

Michigan House - a state initiative to promote Michigan-made music, food, beer, and spirits - will stop at The Little Fleet Saturday before making its way to the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.

The Michigan House Winter Social will take place from 3pm to 10pm Saturday. Spearheaded by Creative Many Michigan, a statewide organization focused on Michigan’s creative economy, the event will highlight local breweries including Right Brain, Filling Station, Rare Bird, Workshop, Brewery Terra Firma, Jolly Pumpkin Artisinal Ales, North Peak, Earthen Ales, Hop Lot, Old Mission Brewing, Monkey Fist Brewery, and Shorts Brewing. A roster of Michigan musical acts will also perform, including Detroit acts Onefreq and the NLR Experience, Grand Rapids band Major Murphy, DJ Adrian Butler (A/B), and Traverse City's Turbo Pup.

Winter cocktails including hot winter warmers, hot toddies, coffee cocktails, and other Little Fleet creations will be served, while food will include a special menu from Milkweed (located inside The Little Fleet) and the visiting Glendale Avenue. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and include two beers or one winter cocktail. Proceeds from the event will benefit Michigan House bringing Michigan music to SXSW; $1 from each additional beer purchased will also be donated to local nonprofit Pour for More.

Michigan House will participate at SXSW for the forth consecutive year this March. The venture - "designed to create a touch/taste/feel experience that’s a testament to a thriving Great Lakes State" - will offer four days of events, speakers, panel discussions, workshops, and music at SXSW.
