Airport Sees Record February Traffic

Cherry Capital Airport set another record in February, documenting a 67.6 percent increase in passenger traffic compared to February 2019.

February's finish comes on the heels of an all-time high in January, which saw more than 53 percent passenger growth year-to-year from 2019. The growth is attributed in large part to new service by Allegiant and gains by United and Delta Air Lines. But Airport Director Kevin Klein says an increase has been experienced across all carriers. "Everybody has grown, it’s not just our new flights," he says, with strong demand in particular for domestic flights.

Even with coronavirus fears impacting worldwide travel, Klein says most outgoing flights across all carriers and destinations are near 100 percent capacity for TVC the next few weeks, with several carriers flying busier “spring break schedules” and utilizing larger-capacity aircraft.
