BATA Finds Buyer for Cass Road Facility

The Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) has found a buyer for its Cass Road facility, which the organization is selling as it prepares to move into new headquarters under construction on the corner of Hammond and LaFranier roads.

BATA listed the Cass Road facility for sale for $1.9 million in July. The BATA board received two offers for the site: one for $2.1 million from LCR Properties of Michigan, LLC and the other for $1.9 million from Versa Development, LLC. At a special meeting on August 24, the board authorized BATA Executive Director Kelly Dunham to execute a purchase agreement for the highest offer.

The new owners, Bob and Leslie Roe of Precision Plumbing and Heating Systems, "plan to use the property for the future operations center of their local heating, plumbing, and electrical business," according to a BATA release. "They have shown generous support to BATA’s financial goals by offering the next year as rent free."

BATA will continue to occupy the Cass Road facility until September 2024. Proceeds from the sale of the property will contribute to the cost of BATA’s new headquarters facility, according to the release.
