BATA Partnering With Lyft On Late-Night Rides
Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) is partnering with Lyft to provide free transportation between 11pm and 1am seven days a week exclusively for riders using BATA's free Bayline route.
The pilot partnership starts this week and is designed to help people working downtown and along the Bayline route get back to their homes or vehicles after regular Bayline service ends for the night. People riding the Bayline can find a monthly promo code displayed inside the bus to enter on the Lyft app. The code will be valid for one month and cover up to $100 in Lyft rides from 11pm to 1am. All rides are scheduled through the Lyft app, with BATA covering the cost of the ride. BATA does not coordinate scheduling rides through Lyft, and rides can only be requested within a 0.2 mile-radius along the Bayline route between Meijer on US-31 and Woodland Creek Furniture in East Bay Township.
“We’re really excited about partnering with Lyft and that this relationship allows BATA to provide an additional transportation option to expand its service offering for riders,” says BATA Executive Director Kelly Dunham. “We’ve received feedback from downtown workers, especially in the service industry, that the Bayline is a great option to get to work, but transportation is needed later in the evening after their shift has ended. Partnering with Lyft is a low-cost and innovative transportation solution that we hope will encourage more people to consider the Bayline, and public transit, as a viable option for their transportation needs.”
