Cherry Capital Airport Passenger Tests Positive For COVID-19; Alert Issued To Other Passengers

The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department is reporting that a passenger on a recent Cherry Capital Airport flight tested positive for COVID-19, according to an airport release Saturday.

The passenger flew to Cherry Capital Airport on Tuesday, April 14 on United Airlines flight 4132 Chicago to Traverse City just prior to the onset of symptoms. The flight landed at approximately 9:30pm. The passenger became symptomatic the next day and was tested for coronavirus. The passenger did not go to any other public locations after arriving and is now recuperating at home, according to the health department. Close contacts have been identified and are quarantined and being monitored for symptoms.

Any passengers that were on the flight are asked to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms (dry cough, fever, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle aches, fatigue, diarrhea, or changes in smell or taste) through Tuesday, April 28 and to contact their local health department or healthcare provider if symptoms arise. United Airlines will also be reaching out to all passengers on flight 4132.
