Here Are Traverse City's 40 Most Influential Under Age 40

The Traverse City Business News' ninth annual 40Under40 list is out today, showcasing an impressive group of current and future leaders.

The list, published every September, highlights the forty most influential individuals in the region under age 40. In addition to Traverse City Business News editorial staff, judges included Honor Bank President Norm Plumstead and NW Michigan Council of Governments Chief Operating Officer Janie McNabb.

This year's list and reception are sponsored by Northwestern Michigan College. The College will host a reception for the winners and their guests on September 9, when the forty will be toasted and celebrated. Winners also receive a "swag bag" full of freebies and gifts donated by area businesses.

To narrow the field from more than one hundred nominees to the final forty, the judges look first and foremost at each applicant's overall impact in the region over the past year, as well as leadership in the workplace and community involvement. 

This year's list includes 16 first-time winners. So without further ado, the 2014 40Under40:
