Iconic Traverse City Building Hits The Market

One of downtown Traverse City's most recognizable buildings has hit the market.

The Fifth Third Bank building at 102 West Front Street - formerly home to Traverse City State Bank - is listed for sale through Coldwell Banker Schmidt for $5.7 million. According to the listing, Fifth Third Bank intends to remain on two floors of the building, leasing back space from the future new owner. The remaining two floors will be available for other tenants or the new owner to occupy. While the building has four floors - plus a mezzanine and full basement - it stands at 100 feet tall due to its iconic clock tower visible from throughout downtown Traverse City.

The landmark building has "been photographed from every direction in advertisements for downtown Traverse City," according to the listing. "It was built by lumber baron Perry Hannah, the father of Traverse City, and was designed by his son, Julius. The buildings' hallmark is the clock tower, which has four clock faces that are five feet in diameter each....the building has incredible views in every direction, overlooking Grand Traverse Bay, the Boardman River and downtown Traverse City."

The 29,383 square-foot building sits on .6 acres and includes 36 on-site parking space.
