Man Arrested for Drunk Driving, Possessing Loaded Pistol After Driving 99MPH Down Peninsula Drive

A 27-year-old Midland man was arrested Sunday after driving 99 miles per hour southbound on Peninsula Drive on Old Mission Peninsula.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post were dispatched Sunday at 6:25pm to a "be-on-the-lookout" report regarding a possible intoxicated driver leaving a winery on Peninsula Drive. Troopers found the suspect traveling 99 miles per hour on the road heading south.

A traffic stop was conducted, and further investigation determined the man was operating his vehicle while intoxicated and was in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail for operating while intoxicated and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
