Red Ginger Has New Owners

Red Ginger, the Asian restaurant and a downtown Traverse City staple, has been sold. Dan and Pam Marsh have agreed to sell to key employees Jordan Apsey and Oana Neacsu. Apsey is a chef and the Marshes' son; he has worked at the restaurant since it opened in 2007. Neacsu is a manager and has been with Red Ginger since 2017.

The transaction includes the sale of the business assets, though the building will continue to be owned by Dan and Pam Marsh. The Marshes will continue in a consultative role with the restaurant for two years.

The Marshes tell The Ticker they opened the upscale eatery with a plan to sell after ten years. Now, 17 years in, it finally became time for a transition. The Marshes began talking to Apsey and Neacsu about the future back in 2021. Pam Marsh says the couple has great mutual respect for each other and expressed an interest in owning the business and learning all aspects of it.

Commenting on the sale, Dan Marsh says, "We tried to go the traditional process of selling to another restaurant group and it was in this exercise Jordan and Oana expressed their interest in purchasing the business. With their tenure, professionalism and leadership we knew this would be a win/win for our employees, the guests and community. They understand our culture and brand and gives them an opportunity to makes things even better."

Pam Marsh tells The Ticker, "This is the perfect opportunity for Jordan and Oana.  We have spent the last two years preparing for this day and will spend the next two years working with them as consultants to grow them professionally! Our employees have been so important to us since 2007 and this decision was also based on what would be best for them too."
