Rotary Charities Announces $900k In Grants
Rotary Charities of Traverse City has announced the recipients of their fall-cycle grants, totaling $933,944. Grantees include:
- Autism Alliance of Michigan, awarded $60,000 over two years to support job seekers on the autism spectrum, and their employers.
- Benzie Area Christian Neighbors (BACN), awarded $50,000 over three years to construct a new facility.
- Benzie Shores District Library, awarded $10,000 over one year to improve facilities and enhance youth offerings
- Community Resource Development, Inc., awarded $30,000 over one year for home rehabilitation projects in Mancelona.
- Generations Ahead, awarded $60,000 over two years to expand supports for pregnant and parenting teens.
- Habitat for Humanity – Grand Traverse Region, awarded $50,000 over one year for priority home repairs.
- HomeStretch Nonprofit Housing Corporation, awarded $80,000 over one year to construct affordable housing units at Honor Village Apartments.
- Honor Area Restoration Project, awarded $40,000 over one year to construct universally accessible infrastructure at Platte River Park.
- Justice For Our Neighbors Michigan, awarded $58,944 over up to three years to provide immigration legal services.
- Leelanau Conservancy, awarded $40,000 over up to three years for the Palmer Woods 1000-Acre Project.
- Michael’s Place, awarded $50,000 over one year to provide grief response training to schools and workplaces.
- PEACE Ranch, awarded $60,000 over two years to expand equine therapy services.
- TART Trails, awarded $65,000 over two years to construct a 1.8-mile segment of the Traverse City to Charlevoix trail system.
- The Systems Change Accelerator grant supports innovations targeting the root causes of complex community problems. Grantees include:
- Michigan Community Health Innovation Region, awarded $150,000 over two years to improve our region’s health and wellness system.
- A partnership including El Grupo Norte, Traverse City Area Public Schools, Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools, Trinity Lutheran, Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District, and City of Traverse City awarded $130,000 over three years to support schools and families to navigate Safe Routes to School infrastructure.
Since its inception in the mid-70s, Rotary Charities has distributed $62,642,407 in grants to organizations and non-profits in Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Kalkaska and Antrim counties. The public foundation was formed following the 1976 discovery of oil and natural gas reserves on property owned by the Traverse City Rotary Club. Rotary Charities distributes the interest income generated from the oil and gas royalties to organizations throughout the five-county region of northwest Michigan.
