TC High Schools to Host Student Voter Registration Events

Students groups at Traverse City Central High School and Traverse City West Senior High will host voter registration and information sessions at their schools this month. The purpose of the events is to "provide information on eligibility and encourage eligible students to register," according to Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS).

"We know it is important for students who will be 18 years of age to understand the voting process, including how to register and where to learn about what will be on the ballot in upcoming elections," says West Senior High School Principal Joe Esper. "This opportunity also provides a space for students who aren’t yet of voting age to learn about their future rights and responsibilities as citizens moving into adulthood."

Traverse City West Senior High School will host its session on Monday, May 13, from 11am to 1pm. Traverse City Central High School will hold sessions before school, during lunches, and after school on Monday, May 20. Traverse City High School held a similar event in the fall.
