TC Light & Power Offers E-Bike Rebates

Traverse City Light and Power (TCLP) is launching a rebate program that will reimburse customers up to $300 for purchasing a new e-bike from participating local bike shops. The move is designed to "promote sustainable transportation" as part of TCLP's strategic plan, according to a release from the city-owned utility.

The e-bike rebate is available to all TCLP customers with a limit of two rebates per service address per year. Participating bike shops include City Bike Shop, Brick Wheels, Einstein Cycles, McLain Cycle & Fitness, Pedego TC, and Wild Card Cycle Works. Customers can bring a copy of their most recent TCLP bill (paper or electronic) and a valid ID to any of those shops, and staff will handle the application and provide the rebate immediately to customers.

"By promoting the use of e-bikes, TCLP aims to reduce vehicle carbon emissions, alleviate vehicle traffic congestion, and encourage a healthier lifestyle," according to the release. "E-bikes are a low-emission alternative to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. They help to reduce air pollution and reliance on fossil fuels, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment. By offering this rebate program, TCLP is taking proactive steps to support the transition to a greener, more sustainable transportation network."
