Three Busted in Local Drug Arrests

Two individuals were arrested during a traffic stop in Blair Township Wednesday on drug-related charges, while a Traverse City woman was arrested in Kalkaska County on the same day in a separate drug-related case.

A trooper from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post conducted a traffic stop on East Mobile Trail near Sawyer Road in Blair Township for an equipment violation Wednesday at approximately 4:15pm. The driver and owner of the vehicle, a 33-year-old Gaylord man, had two outstanding arrest warrants out of Calhoun County. During the driver's arrest, the trooper found a clear plastic bag in the suspect's pant pocket containing approximately three grams of suspected methamphetamine.

The vehicle's passenger, a 41-year-old Traverse City woman, also had multiple warrants out for her arrest. She was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. While searching the vehicle, the trooper found a large quantity of drug paraphernalia demonstrating evidence of drug sales and distribution, including a digital scale with drug residue, numerous empty baggies for packaging, used syringes, pipes with methamphetamine residue, multiple containers with methamphetamine residue, suboxone, and unlabeled pills.

The driver was lodged at Grand Traverse County Jail for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house, and warrants out of Calhoun County. The passenger was lodged in the same jail for possession of methamphetamine and warrants out of Grand Traverse County and Mackinac County.

Also on Wednesday, troopers from MSP's Houghton Lake Post were dispatched to Crossroads Showgirls Nightclub in Kalkaska County on a report of a suspicious vehicle at 2:24am. Troopers located the vehicle in the club's parking lot, which was occupied by a 31-year-old Traverse City woman. While talking to the woman, troopers saw an open bottle of beer in the car's center console. Troopers searched the vehicle and found 34 individually packaged baggies containing suspected crystal methamphetamine weighing approximately 43 grams total.

The woman was arrested and lodged at the Kalkaska County Jail pending arraignment for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and having open intoxicants.
