Interlochen Announces Fall, Winter Lineup

Interlochen Center for the Arts has announced its concert and performance lineup for the Performing Arts Series, which runs from fall 2016 through spring 2017. Tickets are on sale Aug. 12 here.
The 2016-17 Performing Arts Series presents a varied selection of programs, including a new dance production of Sleeping Beauty. “This lineup offers several big crowd-pleasers,” says Chris Gruits, Vice President of Interlochen Presents and Executive Producer, Presentations.
The season:
The Guys, performed by William Church and Laura Mittelstaedt , Sept. 9-10
A play about the after-effects of the collapse of the World Trade Center on a tough fire captain and the journalist who helps him deal with the deaths of the firefighters he knew. It debuted off-Broadway on December 4, 2001, starring Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray.
State of the Union, a new opera by Eugene Birman, performed by the Helsinki Chamber Choir, Oct. 1
“Collage," Oct. 6-7
Basetrack Live, Oct. 16
An up-close and personal documentary theatre piece about the impact of war on the families and caregivers of those who have served.

A Flea in Her Ear by Georges Feydeau, Nov. 4-5

A Light in the Piazza by Craig Lucas, Nov. 17-18 and Dec. 2-3
Winner of six Tony Awards, A Light in the Piazza is the musical story of a young woman’s romance in Italy under the scornful eye of her mother.
Canadian Brass, Dec. 1
The brass quintet boasts a discography of over 130 albums, and was the first brass ensemble from the West to perform in the People’s Republic of China and to take the main stage at Carnegie Hall.
Sleeping Beauty, Dec. 8-10
This year’s production features all-new choreography by Interlochen Director of Dance Joseph Morrissey.
Sounds of the Season, Dec. 15-16
Interlochen’s much-loved and highly-anticipated holiday show performed by Interlochen Arts Academy students and faculty.
Winterlochen with The Great Scott, Feb. 18, 2017
