All TCAPS Schools To Resume Face-To-Face Learning Monday

By Beth Milligan | April 16, 2021

Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) will resume face-to-face learning Monday for all high schools and middle schools, with elementary schools also continuing with face-to-face instruction.

TCAPS board members voted at a special meeting on April 10 to extend remote learning an additional week for middle and high school students, with an expectation of returning to face-to-face learning on April 19 barring any major changes in circumstances. According to a TCAPS release Friday, the Grand Traverse County Health Department "is reporting that COVID-19 case numbers and positivity rates in the county are down from where they were a week ago."

Families are reminded to screen students each morning before they arrive at school. "If a student has even mild COVID-19 symptoms, or is pending the results of a COVID-19 test, the student should stay home," TCAPS said in its release. "Further, schools will continue to implement mitigation measures including mask wearing, frequent hand washing, cohorting, and social distancing where possible to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on the school community."
