By Beth Milligan | April 15, 2026

Authorities assisted a 57-year-old Traverse City man Tuesday who was stabbed by an acquaintance on Grand Traverse Commons property and made his way to Meijer, where employees called for help.

According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, authorities responded to the store just before 10pm after staff called and said a man needed medical assistance. The victim had multiple stab wounds over his chest and rib cage. Officers provided first aid, using a chest seal and applying pressure to the wounds. The man was taken to Munson Medical Center for further treatment.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the stabbing occurred near Red Drive and Silver Lake Road. It's believe the victim and suspect knew each other. An investigation is ongoing, with more interviews being completed. There is no suspected danger to the general public, authorities say.
