Back To School: One-Third of NMC Students Are 56+

Oct. 7, 2024

At Northwestern Michigan College (NMC), 33.8 percent of students are aged 56 and up, the majority of whom hail from Grand Traverse County. In this week's Northern Epxress, read about professionals of all walks of life returning to college for another degree, a pivot to a new passion, or just classes for the fun of learning.

Here's the feature from the Express, part of the publication's annual "Best Life 55+" issue focusing on retirement. Another story from the issue highlights how senior living facilities are offering more features, better food, and diverse activities -- and attracting younger residents as a result.
