By Beth Milligan | Sept. 3, 2024

An eight-year-old boy was killed Tuesday morning in Garfield Township after being struck by a car driven by a 63-year-old Traverse City man.

Authorities were dispatched to the scene of the accident at 7:24am at the intersection of Ray Boulevard and Charles Place in the King's Court Mobile Home Park. According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, both the driver and law enforcement immediately attempted life-saving measures on the child. However, he succumbed to his injuries and died at Munson Medical Center.

An initial investigation indicates that speed, alcohol, and drugs were not factors in the crash, according to the Sheriff's Office. An investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
