Builders Exchange Brings Economic Expert To Forecast Economy

Nov. 9, 2022

Economist Anirban Basu will present his economic forecast Dec. 7 at the Hagerty Center. Basu is Chairman & CEO of the consulting firm Sage Policy Group and chief economist for Associated Builders and Contractors, the construction industry trade organization presenting the event along with the Builders Exchange of Traverse City.

Basu’s address, entitled “No Time to Buy,” will present an analysis of the major factors shaping economic outcomes, including elevated inflation, lingering pandemic, worker shortages, war in Europe, rising interest rates, and increased infrastructure spending. He will then turn toward a forecast for the year to come, addressing the question “Is there more growth in our future, or is another recession on the way?” The West Michigan chapter of ABC will also present the program the day prior in Grand Rapids.

Basu founded Sage Policy Group in Baltimore in 2004 and teaches global strategy at Johns Hopkins University. He's twice been recognized as one of Maryland’s 50 most influential people, been named one of the Baltimore region’s 20 most powerful business leaders and was appointed Chairman of the Maryland Economic Development Commission, serving from 2014-2021.

Tickets are $75 each, with a reduced price of $200 for a bundle of four. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here or contact the Builders Exchange at (231) 946-5531.
