Career-Tech Center Expansion Coming

Oct. 16, 2017

School personnel, business leaders and students were on hand for a ground-breaking ceremony at Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District on Friday. When completed, the project will bring together all the CTC programs on one campus, adding over 10,000 square feet of new space to the building. The new construction will expand shop space to accommodate more students for the welding technology program and provide additional classrooms, shop and laboratory space for the precision machining technology program. The Manufacturing Technology Academy will be moved from currently leased space at NMC’s Parsons-Stulen building. Currently, 1116 students are enrolled in Career-Tech Center programs, 119 in the Manufacturing Technology Academy, Welding Technology, and Precision Machining Technology.

TBAISD Career-Tech Center offers high school juniors and seniors from 25 public, charter and private schools in the five-county TBAISD region the opportunity to supplement their traditional high school education with hands-on career and technical training. The project is scheduled to be completed in time for the opening day of the 2018-2019 school year.
