According to an airport release, Cherry Capital Airport saw a record 602,626 total passengers last year. The previous record was 579,712 passengers in 2019. Airline partners American, Delta, and United, and Allegiant offered non-stop flights to and from 17 destinations in 2021. Multiple renovations and additions were introduced at the airport last year, including a new inline security screening equipment, new fiber for faster free Internet, and a new jet bridge.

In 2022, Cherry Capital Airport is planning to build an additional 424 parking lot spaces, along with a new 40,000-gallon jet fuel storage tank, according to the release.
