Crime Victims' Support Walk Tuesday

By Beth Milligan | April 23, 2024

UPDATE: Due to weather, the walk portion of the below event has been canceled. There will still be a presentation at 5:30pm at the Governmental Center.

In honor of National Crime Victim Rights Week this week, the Grand Traverse County Prosecuting Attorney's Office will host a Crime Victims' Support Walk on Tuesday, April 23.

The walk will begin at 5:30pm on the lawn at the Historic Courthouse at 328 Washington Street in downtown Traverse City. The walk will end at the Open Space. Once at the Open Space, there will be speakers from law enforcement, local crime victim survivors, and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

"This year's theme is a call-to-action for us all to create safe environments where crime victims can share their experiences. In doing so, we are able to offer support, options for life-saving services, and, most importantly, hope," according to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office. "Recent focus in the criminal justice system and in many communities has been on the offenders. Crime victims are often forgotten. These victims need and deserve our support. Victims have the right to have their voices heard."
