Downtown Traverse City Announces New ‘Free Outdoor Entertainment Series’ For Spring 2025

By Craig Manning | Feb. 20, 2025

A new live music series is coming to Downtown Traverse City this spring.

A post shared to the official Downtown TC Facebook page Wednesday announced the launch of “Live After 5,” described as “a free outdoor entertainment series featuring emerging and established performers.” That series will run for four Friday evenings this spring, from May 16 to June 6, with each event spotlighting local artists from 5-8pm.

Live at 5 will include concurrent performances at two primary locations downtown. The first performance spot is the Jay Smith Walkway between Pangea’s and Kilwin’s, while the second is located in front of Horizon Books. Per the announcement, the series aims to offer “a mix of genres and styles to keep the atmosphere fresh and engaging each week.”

Downtown Traverse City is calling for musicians and performers to be a part of the Live at 5 series, with applications now live on the official Downtown TC website. While the series is pitched mostly as a live music offering, programmers will also consider applications from other types of street performers, such as jugglers, magicians, and living statues.

“With a limited performance budget, we seek passionate artists eager to engage with the community,” the post states, touting “a great opportunity to gain exposure and perform in a well-trafficked outdoor space.”
