Foodie Scene Also Brings For Sale Signs

By Ross Boissoneau | Aug. 28, 2017

Amidst a booming foodie scene in Traverse City, several popular restaurants and bars in the area are now for sale.

Here’s a quick look at some on the market:

With the sudden death of chef Tony Gojcaj, Copper Falls Rok & Grille owner Todd Gokey is once again looking to sell the eatery located in the southeast corner of the Cherryland Center parking lot. Includes seating for more than 300 indoors and another 40-plus on an outdoor patio. Priced at $1.6 million.

Georgina’s chef/owner Tony Craig is looking to take his Traverse City concept to larger cities; he reports that the Asian/Latin fusion eatery averages $2.4 million gross sales and he’s asking $1.2 million.

Also available is a Traverse City restaurant advertised on a popular commercial real estate web site at 13671 SW Bay Shore Drive in Traverse City, the address for Apache Trout Grill. That listing, for the business and real estate, is priced at $7 million.

The Karlin Inn, located between Interlochen and Crystal Mountain, is priced at $264,000. Add the liquor license and additional lots/parking across the street for a total price of $379,000.

Maddy’s Tavern in Interlochen, named for Interlochen Center for the Arts founder Joseph Maddy, is for sale for $579,900; an outdoor patio was recently added. Located on busy US-31 with 20,000 cars passing by daily.

After running Vasquez’ Hacienda in Elk Rapids for more than 40 years, the owners are ready to retire. Seating for 140-plus, equipment, fixtures, liquor license, a dance floor, and “a host of items from the owner’s travels across the world.” $535,000.

The Hilltop Shops/Winery Row building along M-22 in Leelanau County includes 22 Vines and Wines and several tasting rooms. It also has three Airbnb apartments, offices, and a cheese shop. Owners say the site is approved for another 6,000 square-foot building. Asking price is $1,550,000.

Located on Northport’s main street, The Soggy Dollar has seating for up to 100 people in four separate areas: the bar, dining room, porch, and outside seating. The asking price, $332,000, includes furniture, fixtures and equipment, as well as a Class C liquor license.

Northport’s North End Eatery, which is now closed, was known for its pizza and sandwiches. The building is part restaurant, part retail, part apartment and comes with a private courtyard in back for $349,900.

Also listed: The Fusion in Frankfort, Oasis Red Bull in Kewadin and Up North Grill in Kalkaska.

Even more area restaurants are for sale, but are “confidential” listings, meaning they are not openly advertised. Realtor Tom Krause of Krause Realty Solutions, says he has several such listings which he describes as “popular local establishments.”
