GT County Launches Online Dog License Registration

By Beth Milligan | Dec. 12, 2024

Grand Traverse County is launching a new online dog license registration system for local residents. The new software provides "an easy, user-friendly platform for dog owners to purchase or renew their dog licenses online, a much-anticipated service aimed at streamlining the dog licensing process," according to a county release.

The upgraded system went live this month and allows pet owners to complete licensing transactions online. "Since stepping into my role as county treasurer earlier this year, providing an online option for dog license purchases has been a top priority for me,” says Treasurer Sarah Gum. “We’re thrilled to provide this much-requested service to the residents of Grand Traverse County. This new software not only makes the process more convenient for busy pet owners, but also helps modernize and streamline operations within our office. It’s a significant step toward improving public access to county services.”

In addition to online purchasing, the new system will allow the treasurer’s office to send automated renewal reminders via email to dog owners. The online dog license purchase and renewal option is available online here.
