Hickory Hills Day Camp Registration Opens May 13

By Beth Milligan | May 8, 2026

Parents will have another childcare option this summer as the City of Traverse City revives its summer day camp at Hickory Hills after several years off. Operated by the Grand Traverse Conservation District (GTCD) on behalf of the city, the camp will open registration on Wednesday, May 13 at 8am online.

The new camp will be an extension of GTCD’s long-standing Nature Day Camp, bringing the same "mission-driven outdoor learning to a new, inspiring setting," according to a GTCD release. Starting on June 22, the eight-week camp season for ages 7-12 will operate Monday-Thursday eight hours per day. Each weekly session has a maximum of 40 campers.

Campers can expect "hands-on exploration, nature-based play, environmental learning, and opportunities to build connections with the natural world," according to GTCD. Each weekly session costs $425, with a nonrefundable deposit of $50/week. The full camp schedule and registration (once open) is available online here.
