Interlochen To Offer First-Ever Summer Day Camp Option

April 20, 2018

For the first time, Interlochen Arts Camp will accept Summer Camp students at the Intermediate and High School level on a “day camper” basis. In addition to the boarding camp, students in the three- and six-week Intermediate and High School programs in Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Choir and Dance will be able to choose a day camp option. The programs for students in grades 6-12 will run roughly from 9am to 5pm Tuesday through Saturday, with some Monday rehearsals. Cost for the three-week programs in dance and music will be $2,100, and for the six-week high school music programs $3,200. According to Interlochen officials, this represents a discount of approximately 65 percent.

This was previously an option for employee families, but not for the general public. Trey Devey, president of Interlochen Center for the Arts, says it is part of a continuing outreach to Interlochen’s neighbors. “Our local community is important to Interlochen, and it's important to me. Our doors are open and we welcome our neighbors to join us in taking advantage of the incredible learning opportunities at Interlochen,” he says. “It is my hope to continue to create and enhance our programs and local collaborations, building partnerships that positively impact our community through the power of the arts.”

As with the boarding camp, most students will have to submit portfolios or audition.
To apply online, go online here and send an email to admission@interlochen.org, stating “I want to be considered for the summer day camp program.”
