Kids' Free Fishing Day June 18

June 11, 2016

More than 500 children are expected to turn out for the tenth annual Kids' Free Fishing Day June 18 at Northwestern Michigan College's (NMC's) Great Lakes Campus.

Children accompanied by an adult are invited to attend the free event between 9am-1pm. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will oversee the stocking of 750 rainbow trout 10 inches or longer for the event. Fishing rods, reel and bait will be provided, or children can bring their own gear. Volunteers will be on-hand to register participants and assist with fishing instruction and cleaning.

The Great Lakes Children’s Museum will host a free fish-painting activity for kids waiting to fish. There will also be a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter rescue demonstration. Free pizza will be provided courtesy of Little Caesar's and Orchard Creek Senior Living and Healthcare. Event parking is available at NMC’s Great Lakes Campus.
