Kmart To Close In Traverse City

June 9, 2017

Kmart is set to close its doors in Traverse City in September, according to an internal company memo obtained by Business Insider.

The memo identifies 72 store closings planned this year by Sears Holdings Co., including 49 Kmart stores, 16 Sears stores and seven auto centers. Included in the roster of businesses slated for closure is the Traverse City Kmart store in the Cherryland Center at 1712 South Garfield Avenue. Two other Michigan Kmart stores are also set to close, including in West Branch and Cheboygan.

Liquidation sales will precede the store closures, which are planned for early September. The Traverse City Kmart is the second location to close in the area after the Acme Kmart location closed its doors this spring.
