All 11 victims of the stabbing incident that occurred at the Traverse City Walmart on Saturday, July 26 have been released from the hospital or transferred elsewhere, Munson Healthcare reported in a “final update” provided to local media on Wednesday morning.
Since the incident, Munson has been providing daily updates about the status of the victims. In the immediate aftermath of the stabbings, Munson reported that it was treating 11 victims at Munson Medical Center (MMC) in Traverse City, six of whom were in critical condition and five of whom were described as being in “serious condition.”
By this past Saturday, August 2, one week after the attacks, two of the victims had been treated and transferred to other institutions, five had been treated and released, and four were still at MMC, recovering and in “good condition.” Now, as of Wednesday, those last four patients have been released from the hospital, as well.
“We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary work demonstrated by our Munson Healthcare team,” MMC President and CEO Joe Hurshe wrote in the final email. “In the face of a sudden and traumatic event, our physicians, nurses, clinical experts and support staff responded with professionalism, compassion, and unwavering dedication to patient care. Their swift actions and tireless efforts made a critical difference in the lives of those affected.”
“While this incident may now be behind us in time, it remains a part of our present and will shape our future,” Hurshe added. “At Munson Healthcare, we remain committed to supporting our community and providing the highest level of care our residents deserve today and always.”
