New Beer Festival Coming To Traverse City

Oct. 31, 2019

A new beer festival is coming to Traverse City next year. The Michigan Brewers Guild (MGB) announced on Thursday that it would bring the Michigan Brewers Guild Spring Beer Festival – to be held from 1-6pm on Saturday, May 16 at Pit Spitters Park. Tickets for the festival are expected to go on sale in March.

The MGB is a nonprofit organization that focuses on promoting and growing the Michigan beer industry. Most breweries in the state are members of the guild, including local breweries like Right Brain, Short’s, Rare Bird, and more. Several figures in northern Michigan brewing are also currently serving on the board of directors for the MBG, including Scott Newman-Bale, VP of Short’s and Rick Schmitt, co-owner of Stormcloud. The guild hosts several annual beer festivals around the state, including the Detroit Fall Beer Festival and the Michigan Winter Beer Festival at Fifth Third Ballpark.

While specific details about the Spring Beer Festival have not yet been shared, the event will likely be similar to other MGB festivals. These events typically include tents from dozens of breweries throughout the state, all offering a selection of their own beers. Food vendors and live music will also be a part of the event.

“Adding a festival in northern Michigan rounds out the geographical footprint for our events and we think there will be a lot of enthusiasm for the MBG Spring Beer Festival in Traverse City,” said Scott Graham, the executive director of the guild. “We are very excited to partner with our friends in Traverse City in introducing this new event to all.”
