NMC Plans Concert, Week Of Events For Earth Day

A free outdoor concert from noon-8pm April 22 at Northwestern Michigan College will kick off a week of events celebrating Earth Day on campus. The concert will take place under a tent outside the NMC Innovation Center. Performing will be Silver Creek Revival, The Lofteez, Stonefolk, Jimmy Olson and Friends, Avid Kain, Skylea with David Chown, and headliners Erin Zindle and the Ragbirds. Sound, production and planning is being furnished by students from the NMC Audio Tech program, NMC Student life and NMC Student Government. During the proceedings, displays and information by groups including NMC Water Studies, the NMC Green Team and FLOW will be onsite; e-waste recycling bins will also be available for electronics and related items.

Among the other events: Campus cleanup will take place from April 22 to April 29. Those interested in growing their own produce can get seeds and information April 25 from 10 to noon. Bioregional mapping will take place with author Stephanie Mills April 26 at 5:30pm. Native flower planting will take place April 28 from 12-3, while restorative outdoor yoga will highlight April 29, beginning at noon. All take place or kick off at the Innovation Center, other than the cleanup, which will be headquartered at the Student Success Center in the Osterlin Building.
