Northern Express: Embracing Small Local Businesses For 2024

Oct. 6, 2023

Northern Express, the region’s largest newspaper since 1991, has announced details for 2024, including several promotions designed to help small businesses market themselves better next year. Among the announcements:

 - a new 2024 editorial calendar with diverse issue themes, including Real Estate, Main Streets of The Mitten, Outdoor Living, Restaurant Guide, Spring Fashion, and dozens more. Some individual issues include special promotional pricing for certain small businesses.

 - seven issues throughout the year with 50 percent discounts on full-page ads for northern Michigan small businesses. This small business discount represents the biggest ad purchase incentive ever offered.

 - enhanced digital tracking and reporting for all Northern Express email and web ads, providing detailed reports on open rates, views, and clickthroughs

 - expanded distribution, particularly into Petoskey and Emmet County. Northern Express now has close to 700 distribution spots throughout 13 counties every weekend. Emmet County’s distribution has grown 25 percent in the past year alone. Traverse City has more than 150 locations. And the paper is distributed from Mt. Pleasant to the Mackinac Bridge.

 - a second annual fall mailing mailing of Northern Express to 3,000 ultra-affluent downstate homeowners, showcasing the region, its people and businesses

The Northern Express team is now hard at work on its biggest issue of the year, the Holiday Gift Guide, which arrives following Thanksgiving and provides readers gift ideas, insider shopping tips, invitations to holiday events, and more.

To promote your business in the 2023 Holiday Gift Guide or learn more about how to market to Northern Express’ 96,000 weekly readers throughout northern Michigan in 2024, email the team here.
