Public Barrel Racing Event Set For Flintfields Saturday

A family-friendly Battle of the North Race Event will take place on Saturday, August 20 at Flintfields Horse Park in Williamsburg, offering horse racing, live music, food and beverages, and activities for kids.

An invitation-only event for competitors, Battle of the North will be open to the public for spectating. Gates open at 10:30am, the National Anthem will be performed at noon, barrel racing will take place from 12:30pm-4:30pm, and ReBooted will perform country and classic rock songs from 4:30pm-6:30pm. A western hat contest with school spirit will also be part of the event. Barrel racers will compete in a long-go blood round with one chance to make it back to the finals, according to the event description.

"This show is fully choreographed and fun for all ages," according to event organizers. "Area show producers joined forces to create the Battle of the North Racing Event in northern Michigan. By joining forces, this event provides competitors opportunities to compete at high-quality shows with a positive environment and good payouts throughout northern Michigan."

Family admission for the event is $25, general admission is $10, and children 12 and under are free. Advance tickets and more information are available online here.
