Reconstruction of Eighth/Maple Intersection Starts Tuesday

By Beth Milligan | May 25, 2024

The City of Traverse City will start a project to reconstruct the intersection of Eighth and Maple streets Tuesday, with work expected to last through mid-June.

Project work will include removing the intersection's existing brick and replacing it with new brick. During construction, the intersection will be closed to all vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic. Sidewalks will be accessible, but crossings will be directed to the intersections to the north, south, east, and west. Alley access for residents in the impacted area will be maintained. Signage and barricades will be in place around the work area.

The intersection project is a part of the city's 2023-2024 pavement preservation work. Other recently completed projects included the reconstruction of the Eighth/Union and Eighth/Cass intersections.
