Resurfacing Project on Eastern Avenue Starts Monday

By Beth Milligan | July 26, 2024

Team Elmer's will begin a resurfacing project Monday on Eastern Avenue on behalf of the City of Traverse City.

Crews will begin resurfacing Eastern Avenue between the Peninsula Drive/M-37 intersection to the eastern terminus of Eastern Avenue (where the city water plant/low pump station is located). The work is anticipated to be completed August 9, weather permitting.

Workers will mill the existing pavement, adjust manhole covers and storm catch basins, and overlay the milled surface with asphalt. Eastern Avenue will remain open to two-way traffic; however, during daytime hours when workers are present, segments of the street will be reduced to one lane under flagger control. Access to driveways and adjacent side streets will be maintained as much as possible.
