TC Central High Names New Athletic Director

By Beth Milligan | Aug. 20, 2021

Traverse City Central High School will welcome a new athletic director on September 15.

Justin Thorington, current athletic director and assistant principal for Saginaw Township Community Schools, will take on the role of Trojan athletic director and Central High School assistant principal. Thorington brings with him Trojan athletic experience as an alumnus of CHS and a former assistant wrestling coach for the Trojans. Thorington’s experience also includes athletic director and assistant principal positions for Kalkaska Public Schools and Dansville Schools.

"We are honored to bring Justin to Central High School in a leadership capacity,” says TC Central High School Principal Jessie Houghton. "His pride for Central High School and passion to lead Trojan athletics will serve our students and coaching staff and further develop a top-notch athletic program well into the future for our entire Trojan community."

The hiring of Thorington follows the recent departure of Zac Stevenson, who accepted a position in New Mexico earlier this summer. In the interim, Houghton has taken the lead for the Trojan athletics department, a position she will continue until Thorington assumes his role in September.
