TC Motorcyclist Hospitalized After Crash

A 64-year-old Traverse City man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a collision with a vehicle Wednesday.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Traverse City Post were dispatched to the scene of the crash on Garfield Road near Three Mile Road in East Bay Township Wednesday. "Preliminary investigations reveal the incident involved a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle," according to the MSP. "The SUV, operated by a 79-year-old man from Kalamazoo, was reported to have entered Garfield Road from Three Mile Road, intersecting the path of an oncoming motorcycle operated by a 64-year-old man from Traverse City."

The motorcyclist fell off his bike in the crash, sustaining life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Munson Medical Center for treatment. The SUV driver and his 74-year-old passenger were unharmed. The crash remains under investigation. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, according to the MSP.
