TC Presbyterian Church & Feeding America to Offer Twice-Monthly Food Pantry

By Beth Milligan | Oct. 23, 2026

The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City has formed a new partnership with Feeding America to provide a bimonthly Mobile Food Pantry in the church parking lot every first and third Monday of the month from 4pm to 6pm starting November 2.

Members of the church, located at 701 Westminster Road, have "have long wondered about ways to utilize their large lot for more than parking during worship and events," according to a release. "Having just celebrated their 70th anniversary as a congregation, they desired to renew their commitment to ‘koinonia,’ a Greek word and theological concept emphasizing fellowship and community, as best demonstrated in sharing meals with neighbors. Setting up a twice-a-month MFP seemed the perfect opportunity for PCTC to embrace that commitment and respond to an increasing need among Traverse City’s most vulnerable populations."

The program is supported by funding from the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation Anderson Family Endowment. Northwestern Michigan College recently hosted a similar site, with participation increasing "significantly in 2026 in parallel with cuts to federal funding for SNAP benefits late last year," according to the release. NMC’s program came to an end after the spring semester.

Mobile Food Pantries enable participants to remain in their vehicles and line up to have groceries brought to them. While statistical data is collected, there is no proof of need required, and all Feeding America efforts are equal opportunity services. Walk-ups are also welcome. PCTC invites those interested in volunteering to stop by the church office Monday-Friday 8:30am-4pm or call 231-946-5680.
