TC West Senior High Goes Virtual Again Tuesday

By Beth Milligan | Nov. 10, 2020

Traverse City West Senior High School will have another virtual learning day Tuesday due to another coronavirus case identified at the school.

Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) was informed by the Grand Traverse County Health Department Monday of new school-associated COVID-19 cases at West Senior High School, the Boardman Administration Building, and the Transportation and Food Service building. The case investigation related to West Senior High School is ongoing. In order to allow adequate time for the Health Department to complete its contact tracing, the West Senior High School campus will be closed to students and staff on Tuesday, and learning will be conducted remotely using the remote learning schedule. Meals will be available for pick-up in the bus loop at Long Lake Elementary School from 7am to 8am.

The contact tracing for a separate COVID-19 positive case that was announced on Sunday at West Senior High - which led to a virtual learning day Monday - has been completed. The remote learning day being called for Tuesday is to allow for contact tracing on a new COVID-19 positive case related to the school.

Students and staff members will be notified directly if they are identified as a close contact to a positive COVID-19 case and need to stay home and quarantine or take additional health measures. If a student or staff member is not contacted by the Health Department, it means that the student or staff member was not identified as a close contact of the person who tested positive.
