Train Track Assault Investigated

By Patrick Sullivan | April 3, 2018

A man and a woman are under investigation after they allegedly confronted and attacked a homeless man as he walked on a train track near Safe Harbor.

Traverse City police officers arrested a 37-year-old Traverse City man after he punched a 30-year-old homeless man from Cadillac, knocked him to the ground, and pulled a weapon, Capt. Keith Gillis says. A 30-year-old Traverse City woman who accompanied the suspect was under investigation as an accomplice. Neither of the suspects are homeless, Gillis says.

The victim was not injured in the assault, which happened at 9pm Thursday. Gillis says the attack was prompted because the victim was in a relationship with a relative of one of the suspects, a relationship the suspects wanted to end.
