Traverse City Honor Flight Set For September

Aug. 14, 2017

Veterans from northern Michigan are invited to sign up for a Sept. 13 Honor Flight, which will take them to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifices.

So far 463 veterans have flown in the Mid-Michigan Honor Flights, according to Director Tricia Donegan. With the fall flight the Mid-Michigan group will carry its 500th veteran to D.C. The flights are free for veterans, while their accompanying guardians pay $500.

Each flight costs about $98,000 to operate, according to Donegan. If you would like to help sponsor a flight or know a World War II veteran, Korean War veteran or Vietnam War veteran who would like to go, click here
