Update: Sara Lee Outlet Closing

Aug. 29, 2012

Following yesterday's Ticker report of the TC Sara Lee plant's transformation into a Hillshire Brands plant, a few readers alerted us to another development: Hillshire Brands is closing the Sara Lee Bakery Outlet store in TC, along with Sara Lee's 10 other outlet stores remaining in the U.S. (nine in Chicago, one in Milwaukee) by the end of November. Though Hillshire's spokesman Matt Pakula tells The Ticker he doesn't know the specific timeline or number of employees that will be affected in TC – store employees declined to comment – he says about 75 outlet employees will be affected nationwide. No word yet on whether or not any will be offered new jobs within Hillshire Brands.
