Veterans Drive On Track For Monday Completion

By Craig Manning | Oct. 12, 2024

Road work ion Veterans Drive is almost complete.

According to a Friday afternoon Facebook post from the City of Traverse City, the road is expected to be open to traffic by end-of-day on Monday, October 14, weather permitting.

“As paving is underway, the roadway is now in its curing stage,” the city shared. “Please refrain from using the roadway until it has been officially opened.”

Construction on Veterans Drive has been underway since late July. The project, which has included pavement removal and replacement, curb and sidewalk adjustments, watermain installation, drainage improvements, and sidewalk/crossing updates, is intended “to enhance safety, accessibility, and infrastructure durability” of the busy north-south corridor.

“Thank you for your patience during this road reconstruction,” the city’s announcement concluded. “Along with the new roadway, we've completed significant utility upgrades. Coordinating these infrastructure improvements together helps minimize future disruptions and ensures everything is done efficiently.”
