Work Schedule, Closures Announced For Four Mile/Hammond Roundabout Construction

Work on the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Four Mile and Hammond roads in East Bay Township starts this week. The Grand Traverse County Road Commission has released a work schedule for the project, which will take place in phases and is expected to heavily impact traffic through September in the area.

The work schedule is as follows:

Stage 1A – South Side Utilities – Approx. 2 weeks (June 16-June 29)
> Hammond westbound only
> Four Mile is completely closed

Stage 1B - North Half Roundabout Construction - Approx. 6 weeks (June 29-August 11)
> Hammond westbound only
> North portion of Four Mile open to westbound Hammond, and westbound Hammond to northbound Four Mile

Stage 2A - South Half, South and West Leg Roundabout Construction - Approx. 4 weeks (August 12-September 8)
> Hammond westbound only
> Four Mile North open to traffic (southbound from the north can only turn west)
> Four Mile South closed

> Stage 2B - South Half, South and West Leg Roundabout Construction - Approx. 3 weeks (September 9 - September 30)
> Hammond westbound only
> Four Mile North open to traffic (southbound from the north can only turn west)
> Four Mile South open to local traffic
